Totoro and Gundam Japan-Exclusive Goods: A Collector's Guide to the October 2026 Drops

Totoro and Gundam Japan-Exclusive Goods: A Collector's Guide to the October 2026 Drops

Studio Ghibli's Donguri Kyowakoku specialty retail chain has restocked a three-piece Totoro bag collection and added a new netsuke strap, while Premium Bandai has opened preorders for two Char-custom Z'Gok cushions that double as cosplay pieces and desk pillows. Both releases sit in Japan-domestic retail channels, which is exactly why the details below matter: for collectors outside Japan, knowing the item names, materials and release windows is the difference between finding authentic stock and guessing.

The Totoro family lineup, item by item

The collection is built around the three Totoros from *My Neighbour Totoro* — the grey Large Totoro, the blue Medium Totoro, and the white Small Totoro — and each item reflects that character's specific design traits (SoraNews24).

The Large Totoro Fluffy Tote Bag is 5,280 yen and appears in a taupe shade described as a blend of dark brown and grey. It is distinguished by whiskers, which the other Totoros do not have, and measures roughly 25 by 32 centimetres. The fabric is a warm, fluffy material suited to autumn and winter, with an inner pocket and a concealed magnet closure. The belly markings are visible each time you reach inside, and the bag takes on a rounded shape as it fills.

The Medium Totoro Fluffy Drawstring Pouch is 3,135 yen and measures 18 by 19 by 15 centimetres. True to the character, it has a nose but no whiskers. It is made from boa fabric with a brown lining, and its climbing rope cord handles double as the drawstring closure, so the pouch pulls into a rotund shape when filled.

The Small Totoro Outing Reel Mascot is 2,200 yen. This Totoro has no mouth, whiskers or nose, and rather than a bag it is a retractable reel keychain for attaching small items like keys. It can also be clipped to the Large Totoro bag.

The netsuke strap and why it matters

The newest addition is the My Neighbour Totoro Kororin Netsuke Strap (Large Totoro & Small Totoro) at 1,540 yen, offered in light blue and pink (SoraNews24).

Netsuke began as small carved items used to attach personal objects such as tobacco pouches and medicine boxes to kimono sashes during the Edo period, which ran from 1603 to 1867. That history is what gives this strap its collector weight: it is a modern anime character rendered in a traditional Japanese accessory format, not simply another keychain.

Availability differs by colourway. The blue version could be purchased at the time of the announcement, while Donguri Kyowakoku stated the pink version would arrive later, from mid-to-late October. All items are sold at Donguri Kyowakoku stores in Japan while stocks last. If you are chasing the pink strap specifically, that mid-to-late October window is the detail to track, and Donguri Kyowakoku's own channels remain the authoritative place to confirm whether it has landed.

The Gundam cushions: cosplay and comfort

The Gundam release takes a different angle. Rather than a standard plush, Premium Bandai is offering two Char-custom Z'Gok items that serve as light cosplay and as cushions (SoraNews24).

The Z'Gok Arm Cushion is a plush glove that covers much of the forearm and reproduces the mobile suit's tri-pronged claw. It is designed for dramatic posing, but its practical function is as a cushion for napping at a desk. The crimson colour marks it as the Char-custom version of the Z'Gok, the amphibious assault mecha piloted by Char Aznable, ace of the Zeon forces. The joke embedded in the product is deliberate: Char's personal machines are typically tuned for triple the performance of standard models in speed and manoeuvrability, and here that custom tuning is applied to relaxation instead.

The Z'Gok Head Cushion is a more conventional cushion shaped like the mobile suit's head, again in the Char-custom colour, and measures 30 centimetres across. The mono-eye design gives it a stern look that, in the source's phrasing, might discourage anyone from taking your seat.

Preorders were open for both items at the time of reporting, priced at 8,250 yen for the Arm Cushion and 7,700 yen for the Head Cushion, through the Premium Bandai website, with shipping scheduled for February (SoraNews24). That February shipping date is the number to plan around, since it determines when a proxy order would move from preorder to warehouse.

What collectors should verify before ordering

Because both releases are Japan-domestic, the practical work happens before you commit. Confirm the exact item name in Japanese retail listings rather than relying on translated descriptions, since the Totoro collection in particular has three characters with similar-sounding product names and different design traits. Check whether a listing is the blue or pink netsuke strap, and whether a Gundam listing is the Arm Cushion or the Head Cushion, as the two differ in price and form.

For condition, the Totoro bags are fabric goods with magnet closures and rope cord handles, so inspect for stitching and hardware once a parcel reaches you. The Gundam cushions are preorder items shipping in February, so there is no in-hand stock to inspect yet.

One gap worth stating plainly: the sources here cover the launch and preorder details, not restock schedules or international availability. Donguri Kyowakoku and the Gundam official website are the places to check for updates, and KADO Japan's product pages should be verified for current stock, pricing and shipping before you buy.

How KADO Japan fits in

KADO Japan is an authorised retailer and reseller sourcing from established Japanese retailers and shipping from Japan. We are not the IP owner or an official brand channel for Studio Ghibli, Donguri Kyowakoku, Bandai or Premium Bandai, and we do not deal in replicas or bootlegs. Products are sourced new unless a product page states otherwise.

Prices are shown in JPY. Standard tracked shipping runs 7 to 21 business days, and DHL Express runs 3 to 7 business days. Import duties and VAT are the buyer's responsibility. Stock, pricing and shipping windows should always be confirmed on the individual product page before ordering, since Japan-exclusive character goods move quickly and restocks are not always announced in advance.
